It is not because I’m an advocate for personal security that caused me to note that the local newspaper this past week has been filled with headlines involving criminal attacks and reminders of the need for personal security. It has been right there in black and white whenever I pick up the newspaper. The first paper had headlines describing a teenager stabbed by another student at school. This had been broadcast on television etc. and I expected to see some coverage of this incident. But the story below really caught my eye-a story about two men who invaded a house, killed the father, raped and strangled the mother and then tied the two young teenage girls to their bed and poured gasoline around them before setting the house on fire and leaving them to a horrific end. The article described these men as having no reaction to their heinous actions. These are the type of people that are out there every day and the people we need to fear.
There was also the article about the burglar who just burst into a house firing shots from a handgun, Right now the paper is not writing about a motive, but does it really matter? The assailant pointed a gun at the woman resident and pointed the gun at the floor and fired shots. Luckily it looks like the woman and family are ok, but I’m sure the incident has left a lasting impression on that family’s memories. Had this family had surveillance protection or personal security devices in their possession, the scene might have been different, but in this case the assailant had the upper hand.
Another article described the attack of a woman in an armed robbery. Supposedly the woman knew her assailant and thought she was only going to borrow her questionable friend some money-not so the case, I guess, That just proves that these days you can’t be too careful even with friends. When people face hard times, they can change and they do not change for the best!
What did make me glad was to see that some neighborhoods were joining together for neighborhood watch and enforcement teams. Underneath the headline was listed various incidents that had recently occurred to include theft, loitering, loitering with gun involvement, gang suppression, the attack by a group of boys on a disabled person, stolen property, delivery of a handgun, and the list went on. I’m glad to see that some are taking notice of the rise in crime and statistics and taking action.
I did not write this blog to scare anyone, but rather to make people aware that times are changing and people desperate for money will stop at nothing to get what they want. What is the answer? My answer would be to be prepared at anytime for any thing, as anyone could be chosen as a victim and there seems to be no partiality as to who is chosen to be that victim. At Best Protection, we are well aware of the today’s news and what is going on in our neighborhood and the world in general. We believe in keeping your home well secured and keeping yourself and your family well protected with a personal security device of your choosing, as well as surveillance systems for home security. Personal Security :How Can You Avoid Becoming A Victim Of Crime
For the last two weeks, when I pick up the local newspaper the front page has featured a story about the latest purse snatching victim. The stories are all similar in that the victim is female (I hope men aren’t carrying purses!) and usually elderly but not always. In one instance the victim is confronted by two assailants-one to distract the victim while the other snatches the purse. In another instance, a car pulls up close to the victim, the assailant jumps out and grabs the purse and once successful jumps back in the car and drives away. In each instance, the victim is left knowing that a criminal not only took their money but also has personal information and identification, etc. It leaves one sick and shocked-I know because I was also a victim several years ago.
In my instance, however, I chose to seek out ways to prevent ever becoming a victim again. I did not care for the feeling of helplessness and I certainly didn’t care for the weeks and months that I worried that my personal and private information was out there somewhere or that maybe the assailant might show up at my home any day or any time. It was this fear that pushed me into taking action to protect myself and I hope it is this same fear that causes you to take action and precautions as well. Maybe you have never been a victim, and if not, I hope that you never will be. But statistics are showing that more and more petty crimes are being committed as the economy continues to worsen.
A personal security device such as a key chain pepper spray costs around $10-$15 dollars for the smaller model. The cost of the lost of my purse was quite a bit more as I had $100 after just coming from the bank. A replacement driver’s license alone was $10 and that cost may have increased by now. Then there was all the time and materials needed to call, write and get replacement cards, bank accounts, nursing license in my case, etc. In all, I would say the replacement costs ran around $200-$250 which is a far cry from the $10 for a pepper spray or personal alarm. But a few years ago, I was like so many other people who felt it could never happen to me. Well, I’m now here to tell you it can happen to you and when it does, it is fast, quick and devastating.
My company Best Protection understands what it feels like to be victimized and we try to carry a variety of personal security devices to meet each persons needs and prevent them from becoming the “next victim.” My personal favorite is the electronic whistle. It can fasten on your key chain and the moment, you feel in danger, you can put it into action and 120dB can draw attention in a real hurry. Criminals do not like attention and will frequently drop the crime at hand and get as far away as possible. A second favorite is the keychain pepper spray which I carry in my hand whenever in a parking lot or public place which could present the possibility of attack. Each of these choices are very economical and easy to use.
I wrote this so I could share my experiences with others in the hope a purse snatching is not in your future. But I can only write the article. I cannot make you read it, or take action-that is up to you. If you are serious about your personal security than you will take action and visit our site Best Protection and obtain a personal security device that meets your needs. While there, sign up as a site fan so you can receive our quarterly newsletter with more safety and security tips and information. You will also be notified before others of sales and specials when they occur. And then pass this information on to your friends because no one anywhere needs to be victim to crime.

Why Not Give The Gift of Safety and Security This Christmas
With the state of the economy, most families will be shopping very carefully this year when the holidays arrive. Each dollar counts and the gifts hopefully have value as well as representing the love and care they are given with. That is why a personal security device or safe family life kit would make the perfect gift for a family member or friend. The gift says not only that I’m giving with love but also I care about you and want you to stay safe and secure for many years to come.
For the teen or preteen, a good choice of gift is a personal alarm or pepper spray. Teen girls would love the pepper spray lipstick and the males would probably prefer the visor pepper spray that they can attach to the visor of their “teen mobile!” These devices allow the receiver personal security devices to use if an assailant approaches them. The alarm sounds a high decibel sound to draw attention to the situation, while the pepper spray disables the assailant who’s eyes shut from the effects of the spray and causes respiratory difficulties long enough for the teen to get away to safety and call for law enforcement. These days we hear plenty of stories of teen rape where the teen girl finds herself alone and defenseless with a date who turns out to be much different than originally thought. Pepper spray in any form-canister, key chain, lip stick, ring, etc. would be a good gift choice to ensure the female teen has some protection no matter what.
There are also stun guns and tasers in many sizes and shapes. For teens, the runt or cell phone stun gun can be carried relatively inconspicuously. These stun guns also make great gifts for career individuals who may have to travel in a variety of areas which may not always be safe. Stun guns or even tasers, can be carried on belts with a holster or in the pocket, etc. and afford a sense of security and peace of mind to the individual as well as the gift giver who cares enough to make sure that person has a safety device if needed.
For the college student, the Extreme College Survival Safe Family Life Kit makes an ideal gift for ensuring safety for a variety of campus settings whether in the dorm or out on campus. For the family member with a new home or apartment, the Being Safe At Home Safe Family Life Kit is a great idea and continues to give throughout the year as the person utilizes a variety of personal security devices to keep the person safe at home and out.
For the family with a pool, a terrific gift idea is the pool alarm which attaches to the side of the pool and alerts by alarm when any small animal, child, etc. accidentally enters the pool. This is certainly a gift of love which helps to protect young children, grandchildren etc. from accidental drowning.
New parents would love to receive the Child Guard Panda which attaches to the child to make sure the young child never wanders off from the parent. What a wonderful gift for new parents who are stressed enough with work, a new family, finances, etc. Preventing a lost child is definitely a gift of love that just keeps giving all year long.
And for the whole family there is the surveillance systems which can be a gift the whole family benefits from. What better gift for a family than peace of mind and security knowing that home and premises are under surveillance and watched at all times. At Best Protection and Best Protection/Surveillance at http://www.personalsecuritycompany.com and http://www.electronicsurveillancecompany.com we offer a wide variety of items and gift ideas that can give the whole year through. What Is Your Personal Security Score?
It’s gotten so I don’t even want to look at the newspaper anymore. It seems like every page has some story about criminal violence on an innocent victim. Most people aren’t thinking about personal security until something happens to open their eyes to the problems around them. Just this week, my local newspaper confirmed that the crime rate is up 8.3% and attributed it to the poor economy. I’m sure that most cities big and small are having the same problems. When people can’t earn money, they find other ways to get it- and those are mostly illegal ways.
One elderly lady had her purse snatched in the grocery store parking lot. If she’d had a personal security alarm or electronic whistle, perhaps she could have drawn attention to the situation. Most criminals when confronted by 120dB’s will usually abandon the crime and seek refuge before they are caught by law enforcement. I’m actually afraid to carry a purse or handbag at all anymore. I may be able to see in front of me but I still haven’t grown eyes in back of my head! It is so easy for a well-trained robber to sneak up from behind, snatch the handbag and be on his way with money, checkbook, credit cards, ID, etc.
Then there was the story about a young girl who was brutally raped. She survived the attack, but is now severely brain injured and cannot see or speak and it is questionable as to just what this young lady understands according to the news report. Again, had she been prepared with a personal security device, would the outcome have been the same? We can only surmise, but perhaps a spray of pepper spray could have given this young woman enough time to get to her car and get away. Maybe a handheld stun gun in her pocket could have disable her attacker allowing her again to get away to safety. I guess we’ll never know.
What we do know is that these types of crimes are going on all around us and are occurring at an increasing rate. It upsets me that so many people say, that’s a good idea or I need to get some pepper spray for my teenage daughter, but never do. Talk is one thing, but taking action is a whole different thing. No one can say the next victim could be you or a family member. Victims are sought out at random and when the situation is right, the assailant moves in on the attack. Having a personal security device or even better, more than one type could mean the difference between life and death.
I hope I never see your story on the front pages of the newspaper. I wish there was only happy news to report, but lately, that certainly has not been the case. As I said, the crime rate is up. What we need now is to increase the personal security rate. What is your score? Is your personal security score high enough to handle an attack if it occurred? Or are you like the innocent victims above who were at the mercy of their assailants. I hope my writing reaches even a few people who listen and take heed. Every one deserves to live securely and with peace of mind. Visit us at Best Protection at http://www.personalsecuritycompany.com and get the personal security device you need to protect yourself if harm comes your way. We have a wide selection of personal alarms, electronic whistles, stun guns, and pepper sprays. With so much to choose from, make a decision today to improve your personal security score and that of your family members.

Help For Parents Who Suspect Their Teen Is Abusing Drugs
There is no greater heartbreak than that of parents who suspect that their teen is abusing drugs-the only greater heartbreak is finding out that their worst suspicion is true. Now it may seem like the end of the world, but there is help for parents who suspect their teen is abusing drugs. The first step is actually confirming for sure what is suspected ,and that is that the teen is indeed using illegal drugs.
There are a variety of warning signs that can alert parents which include a decline in appearance and hygiene, lack of interest in school and dropping grades, disrespectful attitude and frequent agitation with minor incidents, disruptive behavior, and a change if the type of friends the teen is choosing to be around. These are just a few of the signs but generally the teen has a drastic change in the way they talk, act, and look. These signs may be subtle at first but just continue to progress from bad to worse.
There is equipment that can be used to help parents when they do suspect their teen is abusing drugs. There are a number of hidden cameras which can be easily set up in the home or even the teen’s room to monitor what is going on. Call it spying or what you will, if it saves the teen’s life, I’m sure parents would agree that privacy has no bearing at this point in time. These cameras come resembling common household items such as air fresheners, smoke alarms, alarm clocks, or even as small as a screw. They are easily set up and ready to run in just minutes. Once in place, the parents can then monitor the activity of their teen to see if they truly are taking illegal drugs.
There are also surveillance systems to monitor what is going on in your home, which may give you more information and insight. You may set the system up as a so-called “home security system” when in fact, you are actually using it to monitor what your teen is doing when you’re not around as well as who is coming around your home. This can give you valuable information as to whether or not the friends he or she is choosing are also caught up in the drug scene.
Both of these pieces of equipment-hidden cameras and surveillance equipment can give you different information. The hidden camera can actually catch your teen in the act of using drugs or hiding drugs, whereas the surveillance equipment gives the broader picture of who, when, and what is going on in your home with your teen and their friends. Once you have evidence that your suspicions are real, you can then look to getting help for your teen before it is too late.
There are a number of treatment options if in fact your teen is abusing drugs. They start with counseling, but if the teen is heavily into the drug scene, removal from the home to a school designed for teens with problems, boot camps, or rehabilitation facilities are the usual choices. A good counselor or social worker should be able to guide you in making the best choice for your teen.
Hopefully, this gives you some valuable information on what direction to head in coping with getting the help you need for your teen. Every parent fears for their children and drugs have become a terrible temptation to teens and have ruined the lives of many. I hope if you are reading this, you take immediate action so your teen gets the help they need to lead a happy and productive life. Don’t just suspect your teen may be taking drugs-take the action to find out for sure and if your suspicions are confirmed then take action now!

Personal Security Company
Best Protection or http://www.personalsecuritycompany.com was the brainstorm of my husband Bill and I last year when we saw such an increase in crime statistics. These statistics really hit home when I myself became a victim when my purse and all my cash and identity were stolen from my car while I was loading groceries. I usually lock my doors, but my husband had the flu and I was in a hurry to get back home. That seems to be the time when people are victimized-when they have their guard down. First I experienced fear that someone knew all my personal information; then that fear turned to anger that someone could do this to me!
From these feelings grew the business Best Protection and we have been working hard ever since, not only to sell our products but to bring information to the public in the hopes that maybe some of this information will keep someone else from becoming a victim also. Our site blog is http://www.personalsecuritycompany.com/blog which has a wealth of personal security information for everyone and we just published our first quarterly newsletter which is also filled with safety information. For anyone interested, visit our site at http://www.personalsecuritycompany.com and sign up and we will get your edition right off to you as well as a free e-book with more safety information and tips.
We will constantly monitor the news and will bring you the most updated personal security information as it comes available. All you have to do is visit our site and sign up, as we can't reach you if we don't know where to send your information!
